The Prince of Wales Plans to Join COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil

Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil during November, according to palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a reception ahead of the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

Father and son were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the UK government.

Climate Leadership Dedication

The King has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.

Palace insiders have portrayed Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as assuming an important role in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were welcomed attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and politicians.

This engagement involved presentations alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.

Environmental Prize Connection

The climate conference will coincide with the William's personal climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the eve of he attends the COP summit on the sixth of November.

In recent days the royal figure referred to the prize competitors as "modern-day pioneers".

Monarch's Environmental Record

King Charles has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks challenging our world over planetary heating, global temperature increases and biodiversity loss," the King told participants.
